I've heard a whole range of opinions over the last few years about whether I should quit my business. Some people say they have to start a business on the job, because you need income, and you don't know if your idea is good enough. Some people say that work can not be fully committed to the entrepreneurial, which may be the cause of the failure of entrepreneurship.
I've seen some friends quit their jobs to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. A few months later, some people began to look for new jobs, and some never regretted their decision to resign.
As far as I am concerned, I don't even have any ideas or plans when I resign. Work is constantly draining my energy, I know quitting is the right decision. No mortgage and no kids did make it easier for me to make a decision, but after three years and a lot of failed products, I began to rely on my own ideas to earn income. At the same time, I provide consulting services for other companies to make ends meet, which gives me freedom to go to work when I have to earn money and other times to focus on my product.
I'm not suggesting quitting without an idea or plan, but looking back, it's the best decision for me.
When should I keep a full-time job?
1, when you need a fixed income to maintain the existing lifestyle, but also the mortgage, for children to school;
2, when your ideas are not clear enough, or have not been tested or tested in the market;
3, when your work is actually able to implement their own ideas to provide the necessary experience (business, marketing, design, development, etc.);
4. When you have enough time after work and on the weekends to realize your ideas and progress smoothly.
In fact, sometimes less time is more advantageous, you are more focused, more efficient, and waste less time watching news and participating in activities. Not much time will force you to use it rationally.
When should you leave your business?
1, when the work exhausted your energy;
2. When you have enough savings or another source of income, you can support the beginning of your income or access to finance;
3. When you can provide consulting services or free work for other companies to earn money, while also achieving their own ideas. This is a good choice because you are free to take control of your time and go to work only if you need to earn money.
4, when you can quickly achieve some of the ideas, and profitability enough to support you to continue to improve the product. This is my favorite choice because your ideas have been validated and you don't need to diversify between earning and product.
In short, resignation is not important, it is important that you are really working for your own ideas. If you are enthusiastic and confident in your ideas, you can squeeze in any time.
