L ' Oreal, the French cosmetics giant, recently sued internet auction giant ebay for selling counterfeit products.
According to foreign media reports, L ' oreal to protect its brand and distribution network, in Europe, five countries have sued the ebay site.
L ' Oreal said ebay did not take adequate measures to prevent and stop the sale of counterfeit products on its website, while ebay defended that its website was not responsible for providing consumers with a trading platform to facilitate the purchase and sale of products.
Last year, L ' Oreal lost a lawsuit in Belgium to ebay, but other retailers who sued at the same time won the lawsuit against ebay. LVMH, a luxury group with brands such as Louis Vuitton and the brand, won the lawsuit against ebay. But last August, a Belgian business court ruled that ebay had no obligation to prevent users from selling counterfeit goods.
