&http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/37954.html ">nbsp; Beijing time May 3 Morning News, the U.S. Mobile Communications Industry Association (CTIA) released yesterday's latest statistics show that The U.S. mobile network's data traffic increased by 62% in 2012 over 2011, while voice calls were basically flat and SMS numbers were reduced by 4.9%.

CTIA said data traffic in 2012 increased from 866.8 billion MB in 2011 to 1.468 trillion MB, breaking the 1 trillion MB mark. The reasons for the significant increase in data traffic may be related to the following statistical results. First, the number of active smartphones (and PDAs with mobile communications) has increased by 36.4%, and the number of more energy-consuming devices such as tablets and laptops has increased by 10.2%.

Data show that the number of mobile users increased by 3.3% to 326.4 million, exceeding the total population of the United States. By the end of last year, the United States mobile network penetration rate reached 102%.

However, the use of text messaging has declined, sending and receiving text messages last year in the total of 2.19 trillion, compared to the previous 2.3 trillion to reduce the 4.9%. This does not mean that the text messages sent between users are reduced, but because they use more messaging services such as Skype and WhatsApp. In addition, the total number of MMS transceiver reached 74.5 billion, an increase of 41%. Although the use of MMS is much smaller, but this is also a good news for operators. The total number of calls last year increased slightly by 0.2% to 2.2999 trillion minutes.

In addition, the CTIA statistics also disclosed the operator's investment in the Internet: 2012 was $30.1 billion, an increase of 19% from the previous year, an average of $94 per user, much higher than the average of 16 dollars per user in the rest of the world. This was the highest investment year since the report was first released in 1985.
