On the afternoon of January 20, Lenovo announced that it would establish its first cloud services and product Development Centre in Hong Kong and become a strategic partner with the Hong Kong Cyberport.

Yang, chairman and chief executive of Lenovo Group, said at the signing ceremony that the two sides will collaborate on technology development and innovation, talent cultivation and employment, start-up development, local cloud computing, large data and Internet industry, and integrate intellectual and human resources from government, enterprises, universities and scientific institutions.

He Zhiqiang, senior vice president of Lenovo Group and President of Cloud services group, said that with the cooperation, talent system and management experience of Hong Kong's cyberport and local public institutions, the business community and academia, Lenovo would achieve strong alliances and complementary strengths with the former.

According to the development plan, Lenovo cloud services and product Development Center will focus on two aspects of business. One is around the "big Data" and "Enterprise-class cloud services infrastructure platform," the two major areas of exploration and research. Second, the establishment of the Asia-Pacific Data Center, the use of Hong Kong's location advantages to serve the Asia-Pacific market, support Lenovo Cloud services globalization business.

Apart from the high level of co-operation, the chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Leung Chun-ying, also attended the signing ceremony and delivered a speech, revealing that the Hong Kong Government would promote the establishment of a technology development promotion agency and plan to invest HK $5 billion to help young people in Hong (Hanyang)
