Lenovo statement: The strike is IBM's business left staff pay unchanged

"Lenovo and IBM are two separate companies," the statement said. Prior to the completion of the transaction, any integration between Lenovo and IBM's x86 server unit would not be carried out. The statement added: "To ensure a smooth transition [after the deal is completed], Lenovo promised to provide an opportunity for all employees who are willing to transfer to Lenovo from IBM's x86 server division, without reducing their pay and benefits." Lenovo said that once the deal was completed, IBM was expected to transfer to the group more than 7,500 employees in more than 60 countries around the world. Lenovo also said the employees were "good assets" and that this was partly the reason for Lenovo's choice of the deal. In addition to the pay issue, strikers say that once they choose to leave after the completion of the deal, the issue of severance payments is also a concern. As China's economic growth slows, the trend towards "industrial activism" (industrial activism) is growing, as evidenced by the IBM strike.
