SlideShare is a content sharing site that users can use to share presentations and videos. Two years ago, the site was bought by LinkedIn for 119 million dollars. As early as August 2010, SlideShare began to use Freemium's profit model (Free + Premium, or Premium account), and now it's going to be completely free.
Previously paid features such as analytics, social media management, privacy uploads, and shielding ads will be open to all users. The original advanced user can still use all the features, just don't need to spend money. Previously and newly added free users do not immediately enjoy these advanced features. But since September, SlideShare will gradually release new features at a monthly rate.
LinkedIn does not give a detailed explanation of why this is so generous. It may be a good guess that advanced subscribers do not make much of a profit for LinkedIn. Full function free of charge with the continuous introduction of new features, to attract a large number of free users, expand community influence. In the long run, it is a wiser choice.
