Market research firm NPD said August US video game industry sales fell 10% to 818.9 million dollars

According to foreign media reports, market research company NPD said August U.S. video game industry sales fell 10% to 818.9 million U.S. dollars.

Hardware sales fell 5% to 282.9 million dollars, software sales fell 14% to 403.5 million dollars, and accessories sales fell 6% to 132.4 million, according to NPD. U.S. video game industry sales in 6 July were 1.1 billion U.S. dollars and 846.5 million U.S. dollars respectively.

Sales of portable gaming products have been particularly weak, down 25% per cent.

Sony PS3 's sales grew from 214,500 units in July to 226,000 units in the same period last year; Microsoft Xbox 360 sold to 356,700 units, lower than the 443,500 in July, but higher than the same period last year 215,400, Nintendo Wii sales of 244,300 units, lower than the July 253,900 units, the same period last year 277,400, hit a new low.

Sony PSP Palm Machine sales from 84,000 units in July, the same period last year 140,300 to 79,400 units, the Nintendo DS Palm machine sales from July 398400 units, the same period last year 552,900 units down to 342700.

The Xbox and PS3 version of the "Crazy Rugby 11" sales were 920,800 copies and 893,600 copies respectively; Nintendo's Wii version of Super Mario Galaxy 2 sold 124600 copies; Take-two's Xbox version of Mafia 2 Sales were 121,600 copies and Nintendo's DS version of Super Mario Bros. sold 110400 copies.
