Memorandum of Understanding for China-Burma crude oil pipeline project signed

Xinhua Beijing, June 19 (reporter Zhang Anber) reporter 19th from CNPC, China Petroleum and Natural gas group, deputy general manager Lio Yongyuan and Myanmar Ambassador Lwin representatives both sides recently signed in Beijing, China National Petroleum Corporation and Union Of Myanmar Department of Energy on the development,　　Memorandum of Understanding on the operation and management of the China-Myanmar crude oil pipeline project.　　Under the MOU, the China-Burma crude oil pipeline project includes crude oil pipelines, storage and transportation facilities and ancillary facilities from Burma's Made to the Chinese delivery point, as well as a terminal and terminal for unloading crude oil from an oversized tanker and other ancillary facilities built in the country's Battambang Island. The two sides agreed to design, build, operate and manage the crude oil pipeline project by PetroChina.　　Pipeline design capacity is 22 million tons/year.　　Liao has always said that the preliminary preparations for the China-Burma crude oil pipeline project are progressing well and that the pipeline construction is expected to commence next year.　　Industry insiders believe that the construction of China-Burma crude oil pipeline will reduce the risk of Chinese crude oil imports, ease the dependence on the Straits of Malacca, open new oil import channels for China, and further guarantee the country's oil supply security. 2008, China imports 179 million tons of crude oil, crude oil external dependence is close to 50%. The diversification of energy supply has become an important goal of China's energy security strategy in recent years. After years of efforts, the strategic pattern of the four major oil and gas import channels in northeast, northwest, Southwest land and Sea has been preliminarily formed.
