February 20, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg) posted on the Facebook site to confirm that Facebook bought chat apps WhatsApp. Mr Zuckerberg says Facebook will not abandon its original Messenger product because of its different uses and importance, and would continue to invest in both after acquiring WhatsApp.

I am very excited to announce that we have acquired WhatsApp and that their entire team will join Facebook.
Our goal is to make the world more developed and connected. We do this to help people share any kind of content with any group. Every day WhatsApp in the world by the user's favorite, it will help us achieve this goal.
WhatsApp is a concise, fast and stable Mobile information service, occupy each mainstream mobile platform, the number of users exceeded 450 million. More than 1 million new users register WhatsApp every day, and soon its users will reach 1 billion. Every day, more and more users rely on WhatsApp to contact others.
After the acquisition, WhatsApp will operate independently within Facebook. The product roadmap will not change and the entire team will stay in Mountain View. Over the next few years, we will work hard to help WhatsApp grow and connect with the world. I also hope that WhatsApp can develop a force for Internet.org. This cooperative organization is dedicated to making basic Internet services available to everyone in the world.
WhatsApp will complement our existing chat and information services and provide new tools for our communities. Facebook Messenger is widely used in contacts with Facebook friends. WhatsApp is widely used to communicate with all contacts and small groups. Because the use of WhatsApp and Messenger is different and important, we will continue to invest in both and make them great products.
WhatsApp has a lot of choices around the world, so I'm glad they chose us. I'm looking forward to Facebook and WhatsApp to work together to develop great new mobile services so people can have more contact.
I would also like to thank WhatsApp founder and CEO Yang Kum (Koum). How to make the world more open and connected, we have long shared our views. I am particularly pleased to have agreed to join the Facebook board and to work with me to shape the future of Facebook and WhatsApp.
