Microsoft's recent takeover of Office.com domain names has shown that Microsoft is already well on the web's version of Office products, and that Microsoft is trying to recover the hearts of office users who might consider turning to the online Google Apps service.
Microsoft has just released its technical preview of Office 2010 last month, and it is clear that Microsoft is looking to use the domain name for the future or the most recent online office business, and on the other hand, Microsoft is paving the road for its own office 2010.
Industry speculated that Microsoft's specific business approach, one may be to allow individuals and organizations to use the Windows Live ID free of charge, the other is through the signing of Software Assurance Program (Software Assurance) and business users to provide Microsoft's online paid hosting services.
However, Microsoft has not yet released a technology preview app for Office.com testers. Redmond, a mysterious person who holds the domain name on behalf of Microsoft, told the register that Microsoft's online office would release the technology preview version before the end of the year.
At the moment, Microsoft remains silent about the issue and has refused to comment on it and has declined to disclose the specific usefulness of the domain name to outsiders.
