Microsoft CEO confirms: Microsoft will unify Windows brand

In a conference call for Microsoft's quarterly earnings, CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that it would unify the major versions-Windows desktop, Windows RT, and Windows Phone-branded systems. This strategy "means using the same system on all sizes of screens".

Earlier, ZDNet's senior Microsoft Observer, Mary Jo Foley, had issued a statement that Microsoft would change the SKU structure of the Windows system, unifying the system versions of consumer-oriented lightweight devices, such as handsets and tablets, into a "Xiandai" SKU. Then, at the end of this year's build convention, Terry Myerson, president of the Microsoft operating system Group, osg,operating in an interview with Mary Jo Foley that unified Windows IoT (Internet of Things, now known as Windows on Devices, WOD), Windows Phone, Windows RT, Windows PC, Xbox, and Windows Cloud OS's "one Windows" vision.

Microsoft's decision may not have been made in the near future. Back in 2013, Microsoft employees in their LinkedIn profiles said they were working with HTC, Nokia and Qualcomm to test Windows 9 OS devices. Microsoft also made its next-generation mobile phone system the Windows 9 phone OS in a job posting.
