Hewlett-Packard announced this week that it would give up its PC business, the Sina Science and technology news Beijing time August 21. In this respect, Microsoft Public Relations director Frank Show (Frank Shaw) said that the PC is still a meaningful product. The PC is still the best computing tool for content production, he says. In addition, PCs are getting better with the obvious advantages of tablet computers such as content consumption and communications. In fact, for end users, PCs are still an important and necessary tool, both at home and at work. PC business is also very important to Microsoft. In the fiscal year ended June 30, Microsoft's Windows group revenue reached $19 billion trillion, with profits of more than 12 billion dollars. And most of the revenue and profit from Microsoft's business comes from PC software, such as Office software packages. Microsoft has a profit margin of about 65% per cent for such businesses. However, PCs are not a good business for PC vendors. Hewlett-Packard's CEO, Leo Apotheker, said in a conference call this week that HP's business was adversely affected by changes in the use of PCs by consumers. The impact of tablet computers is obvious, and touchpad sales are not up to HP's expectations. In other words, consumers are now buying more tablets, even the ipad, a tablet computer. HP Touchpad has not been able to attract users ' attention. Over the years, the PC industry has been facing a problem of profitability, and analysts have repeatedly asked HP to abandon its PC business. As the ipad begins to affect PC sales in the low-end market, the future development of the PC industry will be more difficult, especially in the general consumer market. So HP, Dell and other PC makers can say to Microsoft: "If you think your PC is a good business, then please make your own PCs." "Apple CEO Steve Jobs has previously said that the computer market has entered the" post-PC "era. Mr Jobs did not say that the PC was dead, but that the attitude of the past towards PCs should change. "In Apple's genes, technology alone is not enough, it should be a combination of technology and free art and human nature," he says. This is more pronounced in post-PC devices. However, many manufacturers still view tablets as the next generation of PCs, hardware and software developed by different companies, and still emphasize factors such as running speed. "Microsoft has begun to accept Jobs's idea that Windows phone and Kinect are two typical examples." These two products can not only work, but also make users have fun in the use. But even if Microsoft can make Windows 8 fun to use, Microsoft still needs to rely on PC vendors to develop more powerful hardware and promote and sell them to compete with Apple's Mac computers.
