EA shares jumped 5% per cent on the day after the market was rumoured to have been driven by Microsoft's interest in acquiring Art (EA). It was rumored earlier this year, but was rejected by analysts. Frederick Rouffy Frederic Ruffy, an option strategist at the WhatsTrading.com website in New York, said there were rumours that Microsoft might be interested in acquiring EA, though it was unconfirmed. A London trader also said similar rumours were circulating in Europe. Microsoft has no reason to buy EA, Microsoft has its own game platform Xbox, and has also released some video game ads. It is also reasonable to buy big companies such as EA, but not entirely. There have been rumours that Time Warner might consider acquiring EA, which is more plausible. As of press, EA shares rose 0.96 US dollars to $19.48/share earlier in the day, up 5.18%.
