Microsoft publishes a second preview of the Hadoop large data service based on Azure

Microsoft has updated the Hadoop based on Microsoft Azure in the most recently published SQL Server 2012. While Microsoft released the latest version of SQL Server last week, Microsoft also announced its second preview of the Hadoop large data service based on Windows Azure. Micrsoft Many of the new features and new services in SQL Server 2012 are based on Microsoft customers, who focus on a mixed IT environment and deploy traditional data centers in the context of private cloud and public cloud.

Microsoft's Hadoop version is currently evolving into the "Customer Technology Preview" phase. This means that Microsoft is evaluating the customer base and expects the official edition to be launched in mid-2012. Microsoft's Hadoop is based on the Windows Server platform or on Microsoft Cloud Platform Azure.

In the 2.0 release, the product core includes MapReduce, HDFS, and Hadoop components pig and hive. Microsoft's goal is to be compatible with all Hadoop components. Components such as zookeeper, HBase, Hcatalog, and mahout in the Hadoop ecosystem are also attached to the Microsoft Hadoop version.

Looking ahead, Microsoft's commitment to Hadoop compatibility means that streaming data solutions StreamInsight and Azure tables will be rolled out as part of the Hadoop environment with the Microsoft Distributed hbase as a core product. Today's streaming data solutions, such as Yahoo S4, will be compatible with Microsoft.

Microsoft has also launched a new set of common tools for SQL Server, SQL Azure applications, and database development. It also introduces a web-based visualization tool Powerview. You may have heard of this project called Crescent, which is a fairly powerful, BI toolkit that allows users to create enterprise-class BI reports.

From the Microsoft SQL Server Team blog, the first edition of Microsoft to today's second preview, the service capabilities and reliability of Hadoop based on Azure has increased twice times. The Hadoop Distributed File system based on Azure also features disaster recovery. The new version also allows you to include data connected to Office SharePoint. Hadoop based on Azure can also work with the Open-source Hadoop project Mahout.
