Microsoft unveiled a 40 billion dollar share buyback plan and a 22% increase in quarterly dividends, extending the company's shareholder-friendly moves in recent years. The new stock repurchase plan does not disclose the deadline, which will replace the $40 billion pre-stock repurchase scheme due at the end of this month. According to FactSet data, Microsoft's market capitalisation is 273.2 billion dollars. In addition, Microsoft raised its quarterly dividend from 23 cents a share to 28 cents, raising its annual dividend yield to about 3.4% per cent. The company last announced a dividend increase of 3 cents in September 2012. Microsoft has been distributing quarterly dividends regularly since 2004, the eighth time the company has paid its quarterly dividend in Tuesday.
