Phil Spenser, Microsoft's Xbox business Director, confirmed at this week's San Francisco Game Developers Conference (GDC) that Microsoft will Fille Spencer the Xbox game to the HoloLens virtual reality headset.
"Gaming and entertainment are important," he says, when it comes to providing this new experience to consumers. He revealed that Microsoft's own studio is trying to develop an attractive experience and to break through what Microsoft showed this January. Eventually, however, HoloLens will be open to outside developers.
"There will be a lot of users and industries taking advantage of Microsoft's HoloLens, holographic computing needs to evolve in all its aspects, and games are a big opportunity," Microsoft said in a statement. ”
In his previous speech, Spencer also highlighted the important role played by games in other platform software ecosystems, such as PCs, smartphones, and game consoles. Clearly, Microsoft believes that HoloLens and Windows holographic are no exception. Spencer hinted that developers interested in this could register Windows Insider program to obtain an application interface (API).
Microsoft is expected to release more information about HoloLens at the build developer conference next month. But it is unclear when ordinary users will get the product.
