Former Google vice President Hugo Barra, the current global vice president of Millet, revealed yesterday on personal Google + and Twitter that Millet had appointed Jai Mani as the head of product in India. In an interview with Indiatoday, Hugo Barra said Millet is willing to join Google-led Android One Low-cost smartphone program.
Jai Mani, a member of many of Google's Indian employees, appeared at the I/O Conference as assistant to Hugo Barra. Since 2011-2013, he has been in the role of Google Play strategy and analysis assistant, and then resigned to join a start-up company. Hugo Barra the Jai Mani as his "best memorial to the first anniversary of Asia."
According to India Times, Millet is currently in India to sell a series of new products:
After selling 90,000 sets of millet 3 and 150,000 tower red M 1S, the red meter note is also about to land in the Indian market. and the current 4G version of Millet 4 is being tested in India and will be sold in India by the end of the year. (Mainstream operators in India will use LTE as a 4G standard.) )
Many people put Millet's current momentum in India against Google's Android one plan. The latter, which now has a couple of homegrown brands in the Indian market, has launched an Android one smartphone, but has been configured to lag behind the red-meter 1S, at a price higher than the red-meter 1S of Rs. 5999. Google announced a list of successor partners HTC, TCL, Lenovo and Panasonic, no millet.
But Hugo Barra released goodwill to his old club, offering a second option for consumers to pick up the native ROM on the millet with Android one. He recalls that he was personally involved in Android One's plan, thinking it was a great product and loved it. But he admits that cooperation with Google has not been discussed in any detail or timetable.
