Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder and his wife Melinda Gates Charitable Foundation, announced in Wednesday that he had handed over $1.5 billion worth of Microsoft shares to the Fund's Management Gates fund Asset Trust in November 2014. According to a January 31 filing by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bill Gates handed over 31 million copies of Microsoft shares to the fund, and his personal stake in the company fell to 3% per cent. Bill Gates ' personal net worth is 82.9 billion dollars, according to the Bloomberg billionaire index. The Global Alliance for Vaccines (Gavi), the world's largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, announced on January 27 that it had received 7.5 billion dollars in new pledges, including 1.55 billion dollars from the Bill and Melinda Melinda Foundation. In response to media inquiries, the Gates Foundation spokeswoman, Wendy Walker, said the commitment to the Global Alliance for Vaccines was unrelated to the transfer of equity referred to in the SEC filings.
