Despite the enormous potential of the Chinese market, foreign companies have had a lot of trouble entering the market because of the government's fear of violent content and the restrictions on the sale of video games. For example, game consoles dedicated to video games have been banned from sales in China. This January, as part of a policy realignment against the Shanghai free Trade Zone, the Chinese government actually canceled a 14-year ban on video game sales. Microsoft has started selling its Xbox One console in the Chinese market this September, while Nintendo President Rock Iwata recently said it was also assessing opportunities in the Chinese market. The Sony PS4 game has sold 10 million units worldwide in 9 months, the fastest sales record for PlayStation brand video game consoles.
