Network administrator: Server hosting helps companies survive the recession

Managed server (MSP) is not a new thing. It companies have been using this service for a variety of reasons earlier. For example, sometimes a managed server can provide services such as routing management, and cost savings more than it companies do themselves. Sometimes a managed server has a special approach in a particular area, such as an application that is unavailable or in short supply to the IT enterprise. We recently surveyed 300 IT experts, more than 80% of whom said their company was using a managed server. Almost 45% of these people expect their enterprise to be able to mine the additional utilization value of the managed server in the future. The primary services are IP telephony, application hosting, managing router services, unified communications, and telephone customer service. Many respondents also pointed out that their companies might cut jobs and budget cuts, but still needed new technology. The contradiction between the two is another testament to the increased use of hosting servers in the 2009. We believe that managed servers may add value to the enterprise in some ways, and may not in some ways. We also believe that when an IT company is considering the significance of using a managed server, the enterprise must carefully assess whether the managed server is capable of providing management services effectively. In addition, IT organizations have network management tools and people and mechanisms to monitor such managed servers. Without these tools, people, and mechanisms, it organizations can only pray that managed servers provide effective services.
