New challenges for Internet architects in the cloud era

With the advent of Aliyun, Sina Cloud platform, Tencent Cloud and so on, cloud computing platform is really driving the change of Internet application mode. Cloud computing, as a new business model or new technology, has a far-reaching impact on the Internet. In particular, cloud data centers, because of their larger size, higher concentration, higher export bandwidth, and more stringent reliability requirements, the distribution and deployment of the Internet architecture presents new challenges.

In the cloud computing environment, large data centers are a trend. The cost of energy consumption at this point in the data center will be a major concern for cloud providers. Google, for example, has about 12 dedicated data centers in a number of locations, running about 1 million servers, and even without the power consumption of devices such as data center routers and switches, the power requirements for these servers will reach 500 megawatts, equivalent to half the San Francisco city's power consumption. As a result, Google has chosen to build data centers in areas with abundant power resources, safe geographical environment and few natural disasters.

Faced with the advent of the cloud, the challenges posed by the Internet architecture, 2012 China System Architects Congress opened a special session to discuss. Gao Yingrui revealed that the issue of China's system architects Congress must be closely followed by technological trends.
