Nexon announced a partnership with Shiver Entertainment

Former Zynga COO founder's studio has been Nexon investment

Nexon, a free game developer in Tokyo, announced a partnership with North American start-up Studios Shiver Entertainment, located in Miami, established by former Zynga and EA COO John Schappert.

Nexon has earned Shiver's exclusive global distribution of all games in cash, and Nexon's CFO Owen Mahoney will join the Shiver board, which has not been disclosed.

"John has created a lot of interesting and successful games for the industry," Mahoney said in a statement. "This cooperation represents another milestone in our access to the European and American markets."

Schappert has served as COO in EA, primarily responsible for the retail and digital distribution strategy for EA, and recently worked as Zynga's COO, primarily responsible for the creation of Zynga's mobile business unit and day-to-day operations. After leaving Zynga, he created a free gaming studio Shiver Entertainment last December.
