Sina Science and technology news Beijing time July 28, Nintendo announced today that the company's first quarter net loss of 25.5 billion yen (about 324 million U.S. dollars), compared with the same period last year 25.2 billion yen net loss has widened. Nintendo's first-quarter sales fell 50% to 93.93 billion yen, operating at a loss of 37.71 billion yen. The company lowered its net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2012 by 82% to 20 billion yen. The total fiscal year is expected to achieve sales of 900 billion yen. Nintendo said the sales were weak because of a lack of gaming and a weak yen in the Wii and 3DS consoles. In an effort to boost performance, Nintendo has decided to cut the price of 3DS handheld gaming machines from 25,000 yen to 15,000 yen from August 11 onwards. From August 12 onwards, the U.S. market price from 249.99 U.S. dollars down to 169.99 U.S. dollars. (Si yuan)
