Cloud computing has become the focus of the development and application innovation of the information technology industry, however, with the deepening of the cloud computing development process, the corresponding problems arise. Behind the development of cloud computing, there are some defects, such as unreasonable planning, substandard infrastructure, lack of matching, management by labor, serious energy consumption, large security hidden trouble, and the lack of corresponding industrial norms and standards.

In order to ensure the sustainable and healthy development of cloud computing industry, the major standards organizations at home and abroad have started the research on the relevant standards of cloud computing, and actively promote the standard formulation and implementation of cloud computing technology, cloud management, cloud service and so on, to realize the openness and compatibility of industrial chain.

At present, about dozens of standardized organizations have begun to actively promote the standardization of cloud computing. These standardization organizations can be grouped into three categories:

First, traditional information technology standardization organizations include ISO/IEC, American Institute of National Standards Technology (NIST), Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), Network Storage Industry Association (SNIA), Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), etc.

Second, the newly established Organization for cloud computing: Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA), Somersault Cloud (open Cirrus), Cloud Computing Security Alliance (CSA), Hadoop community, open Grid Forum (OGF), Open Cloud Computing Federation (OCC), Green Grid (TGG), China cloud computing Technology and Industry Alliance, China Cloud Computing Industry Alliance, China Electronic Society cloud Computing Experts Committee.

Third, standardization organizations in the traditional telecommunication field include the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the World Mobile Communications Congress (GSMA), the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI), the Metropolitan Ethernet Forum (MEF), the China Communication Standardization Association (CCSA).

Current status of domestic cloud computing standards

Standards are the commanding heights of industrial competition, and the establishment of independent cloud standards is the objective requirement of the development of China's cloud computing industry, and it is the core subject of China's cloud computing industry to achieve sustainable and healthy development.

At present, a number of standards organizations around the world have launched the cloud computing standards for the drafting and promotion of the role, compared to foreign China's progress is relatively slow.

Here is a description of the domestic cloud computing standards organization and their main work.

China Communications Standardization Association: the main work to assess the impact of cloud computing in the telecommunications sector, follow up and complete the first phase of China's cloud computing standards drafted. Its subordinate workgroup TC1, TC7, TC8, TC11 and so on basically already covered most of cloud computing content.

China cloud computing Technology and Industry Alliance: launched by the Electronic Society, non-profit Technology and Industry Alliance, the total membership of more than 300, to promote the development of China's cloud computing technology.

China Cloud Computing Industry Alliance: 14 joint sponsoring organizations, including Beijing Aerospace University, released the Cloud Industry Alliance White Paper version 1.0.

China Electronic Society cloud Computing Technology and Industry Alliance: China Electronics Society launched, February 2010 published a white paper to convene China cloud computing conference.

China Institute of Communications, a large data expert committee: China Communications Institute launched the first China specializing in large-scale data application and development of the academic advisory body.

The Intelligent City Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of communication: by devoting more than 30 authoritative experts and scholars to intelligent City Research, planning, service and practice, we will focus on covering urban planning, government, transportation, medical, security and other key industries, forming the most core and influential think-tank and academic advisory body in our city. Former minister of Information industry, Comrade Jichuan, served as chairman of the Committee of Experts.

As can be seen, China's cloud computing standards are slow to develop, not yet a comprehensive cloud computing standard system. As a result, China's cloud computing standards are still a long task.

The current status of international cloud computing standards

Since 2009, the research on cloud computing by foreign standardization organizations has been gradually increasing, and most of the organizations are positioning clearly, which has gradually matured. The following is an introduction to the International cloud Computing Standards Organization and their main job content.

ITU-T: primarily responsible for establishing international radio and telecommunications management systems and standards. After the cloud computing focus group FGCC set up SG13 cloud computing team, focusing on cloud computing architecture and other related content. SG7 focuses on cloud computing security issues.

TMF: Provide strategic advice and implementation plan for ICT industry operation and Management. Commission Cross Cloud Catalyst project, unified corporate cloud and SOA architecture white paper.

ETSI: Set up a TC cloud working group to focus on the business trends of cloud computing, as well as the IT-related infrastructure, the service level, the output white paper, and so on.

ODCA: An organization composed of industry user representatives, establishing an open industry ecosystem and releasing multiple use-case models such as virtual machine interaction.

SNIA: Set up cloud Working group to promote the cloud specification of storage-service, unify the interface of cloud storage, realize resource-oriented data storage access, expand different protocols and physical media.

Open Cirrus: For Internet-wide data-intensive research. More than 80 research projects are currently underway on the test bed. It simulates a real, global, and Internet environment to test the performance of applications, infrastructure, and services that run on large cloud systems.

DMTF: The main work is integrated into the development of standardized interface specifications for virtualized devices, defining the semantics and implementation details of the architecture, implementing interoperability among service providers, consumers and developers, and interacting with the cloud environment.

TGG: The world's leading alliance organization for improving IT efficiency, proposes a more general standard for measuring and comparing the efficiency of data center infrastructure.

CSA: In order to provide the best security solution in the cloud computing environment, promote the best practices to provide security in the cloud, and provide a framework based on the use of cloud computing to help protect other forms of computing.

NIST: Serves the U.S. federal government and belongs to the U.S. Department of Commerce Technical Management. Publish a cloud computing white paper that outlines the industry-accepted definition and architecture of cloud computing.

MEF: A non-profit organization focused on solving the problem of metropolitan Ethernet technology. is currently actively studying cloud computing-related Sdn.

OCC: Provides support for open source software configuration to cloud-based technologies, and enables interoperability standards and interfaces between different types of cloud-enabled software.

Hadoop community: The world's Hadoop developers, applications and enterprise users, a common organization of standardization, responsible for leading the organization to implement large data analysis applications of software system technology standards, enterprise deployment application experience sharing, user common needs to collect and review and project development and implementation work.

According to the analysis, the framework of international standard system is basically however, the standard/research project covers incomplete framework, the traditional standardization organization process is rigid, the standard is formalized, the industrial target is not clear; In addition to data center and system virtualization, in some established industrial standards (such as cloud Platform management, cloud Network communication protocol, Cloud storage management specifications and interfaces, packaging and distribution formats for software on top of virtual machines, etc., have not yet formed international/industry standards.

As with other industry standards, on the one hand, the application of cloud computing is still not wide enough, industry standards for many manufacturers do not pay attention to, on the other hand, the different organizations, different manufacturers want to be in the process of standardization of cloud computing in the leading position, so, it can be said that the standardization of the development of cloud computing is

In the PC era, the lack of core technology so that China did not grasp the right to speak, one step behind the full plate are lost. In the emerging era of cloud computing, unified standards and solutions have not yet formed, the global Synchronized Fair competition, China, opportunities and challenges coexist.
