According to local media reports, Nokia will transfer its factories to Asia, and plans to invest 300 million of dollars in Vietnam to establish the first Nokia Asia plant, Nokia is expected to hold a formal launch on April 23 to announce the news. In the past few months, Nokia has shut down many factories in the west and made extensive layoffs to save costs. Nokia executives say the move to Asia is not just about saving costs, but also because the region is closer to suppliers, allowing it to react more quickly in the fierce market competition. Nokia's new plant will be completed and put into production in the next few months, while Nokia's first handsets in Vietnam are expected to be marketed this year. The establishment of the Nokia Factory will provide nearly 10,000 jobs and is expected to produce 45 million handsets by the end of 2014.
