In early September this year, Microsoft announced a $7.2 billion trillion purchase of Nokia equipment and services and a large number of patents. This week, Nokia shareholders approved the deal, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year, when about 32,000 Nokia employees who have not been transferred to Microsoft will move away from the Finnish headquarters and relocate to the Karaportti Park, a network-equipment business away from downtown Helsinki.
The Finnish headquarters of Nokia was built in the 90 's, and as a landmark in the Espoo seaside near Helsinki, it was the symbol of Nokia as the first major global company in Finland.
Last December, Nokia sold the Espoo headquarters building to Finnish company Exilion at a price of € 170 million ($ 220 million), and rented the building from Exilion for office work to reduce costs. Microsoft said it would become a mobile phone development base after acquiring Nokia equipment and services.
