According to the newspaper, the data includes about 160,000 e-mail messages and real-time communications, as well as about 7,900 documents taken from more than 11,000 online accounts, intercepting for the first term of Barack Obama's U.S. presidency , From 2009 to 2012.

The newspaper concluded that nine out of ten of the electronic account holders in these figures were "non-scheduled monitors, but still captured by the NSA." Most of these people are ordinary Internet users, both in the United States and abroad. Almost half of the documents under surveillance "contain names, e-mail addresses and other details that NSA labels as belonging to U.S. citizens or residents."

The newspaper also found that the NSA retained what some analysts call "useless" documents that include talking and love stories, financial anxiety, and illegitimate partners. However, there are also some documents that contain "informative" content such as "a two-sided approach by a surface ally and a military disaster by an unfriendly regime."

The Washington Post said last week that in addition to the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, other countries and territories are the subject of fact-control by the National Security Agency.

The German parliament is investigating the monitoring activities of the NSA and its collaborators on German citizens and politicians, and whether the German intelligence agency helped monitor them.
