About anchor links

Anchor link generally used for longer pages, the use of http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/8882.html "> links within the establishment of the page directory. Click the directory to jump to the appropriate location of the text, the most Common such as "back to top, jump between modules" and so on.

About anchor links, usability research guru Jakob Nielsen wrote an article entitled Avoid Within-Page Links, which excludes anchor links and regards it as harmful to the health of the page. The classic example is "back to top" Summarized as:

Interfere with user browsing pages

· Think it is not necessary, the browser or keyboard enough to complete this function;

· The result of the operation is not clear, and the user's knowledge of the "top" is not fixed.

For WAP-side mobile phones, many mobile phones do not support scripts, so in most cases, they only expect to have a quick jump function in the user's browser. As for the key press, the focus jump will be quite painful. Now a lot of wap has tried to use anchor links, such as some information sites, these sites a large amount of information, the page is very long, the need for anchor link is thus deeply embodied.

There are currently two main applications for anchor links (see Figure 1):

Rapid jump between modules

Jump to the top

Advantages: The page is too long, this quick jump can reduce the key to work

Disadvantages: * The target position is not obvious, the user can not expect the focus falls after falling;

* By the size of the phone screen, users can not understand the overall situation, after the jump will lose the sense of direction;

Similarly, for a search result page, the page will be long due to the multiple result lists presented to the user, so proper use of anchor links will reduce the user's operational burden.

Application of anchor link in search result page

In general, the ribbon in the search results page location there are two situations: at the top of the search results list, at the bottom of the search results list, the following two cases were analyzed for the pros and cons.

1 Ribbon at the top of search results list

Advantages: conducive to repeated screening. If users want to choose "eat and drink in the West Lake area" or "mall in Hangzhou area", select one of the conditions first. After the page is refreshed, another condition is selected at the top of the page and it will be easy to operate (as shown in Figure 2).

Disadvantages: Each page refreshes focus on the first link of the page. Users want to reach search list, to go a long way (Figure 2). At this point can only hope that the mobile phone itself on the link focus of the execution order, the result is very uncontrollable (many phones do not support rapid jump, in addition, not all users are well aware of this feature).

2 Ribbon at the bottom of the search results list

Advantages: Refresh the page, the user can reach the list at the top of the page;

Disadvantages: The cost of repeated screening can get high. After the page is refreshed, the user must bypass the result list and reach the bottom of the page to complete these filtering operations (as shown in Figure 3).

How to balance features and results on the SERP page

The purpose of this revision:

On the SERP page balance the results of the list and the priority of the "filter area" (the former is higher for the merchant than we find).
· Try to reduce the number of page refreshes, so do not use the link to a new page;

The final optimization method is (Figure 4):

Add an anchor point above the search results page list to chain the filter ribbon when the user needs to rescreen.
When the user does not need, directly ignore the focus, to reach the results list.
· To enhance the sense of direction after the user jumps, the visual representation of the anchor point entrance is designed to be the same as the filtered ribbon.

In Wap web design, due to browser or hardware limitations, the use of anchor link is necessary, but also note the following points:

• Balance the importance of search results and ribbons to users, and release anchor links in place

· Find out the actual intention of the user when using the anchor link, with a clear copy of the text to convey

· To enhance the sense of direction after the jump, you can unify the visual representation of the anchor position and the target position
