"Imitation" has become unacceptable when our business community is waving the word "innovation". In mid-May, Google launched a new product "Life search." But the new product was then blamed for plagiarism by the cool news of a similar product.
It is noteworthy that this is not a single event. Before this, Google has launched a hot list of Google, Google Navigation, Google Pinyin Input Method three services, but have not spared the accusations of plagiarism by competitors. Among them, Google Hot list, Google navigation is accused of imitating Baidu's list and hao123.
So, in the media, the blame for plagiarism is pointing at Google. The reason the industry reacted so strongly was largely because Google was a company known for innovation, and what Google did now seemed to be unacceptable.
But a basic fact is that, despite being blamed by several rivals for plagiarism, Google has so far not encountered real copyright and patent problems. This means that Google is more of a copycat than a copyrighted copy. If you do a figurative metaphor, it is the first to introduce a child toothpaste, and Johnson later introduced a similar child toothpaste.
So what is the driving force behind the Chinese companies ' imitation of Google, which is known for its innovation? A very important factor is the need for localization. One of the core aspects of localization is to provide local users with the products they need most. So what is the most needed product for Chinese users, and it is clear that the products that have been validated on the market are required, such as navigation and input methods.
And Google, a company to provide users with popular services, it is not possible to input method such as "Basic consumer goods" blind, and to blindly launch a small niche of innovative products.
An interesting phenomenon is that replication and imitation are part of the success of most Internet companies. Google is not the first to do search engine companies, Tencent QQ Creative from ICQ, Sina, Sohu's creativity is clearly from Yahoo, the grand idea is also from the South Korean internet company. For companies that provide popular services, imitation is clearly not something that is embarrassing or impossible to do. But an important success factor is the imitation of innovation, which is the key to companies such as Google and Tencent that can surpass those who are imitators.
