Beijing time, March 14, the Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) expands the idea of how cloud services should work, requiring more friendly licenses for the cloud and better http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/38609.html "> Access control mechanisms.

The advantages of public cloud services are obvious to most CIOs (CIOs). ODCA says the hope is that the cloud's multi-tenant and shared infrastructure will achieve greater flexibility and lower costs.

However, it is not easy to transition from the current IT infrastructure with servers within the company to the cloud-based infrastructure. To address these challenges facing it, ODCA was established in 2010.

ODCA released two new frameworks in Wednesday: The Software Licensing management framework (Software Entitlement Management framework) and the data security framework. These two frameworks detail what ODCA members expect from vendors. The first framework addresses the transition from a system-or CPU-kernel-based software licensing model that ODCA considers obsolete to a license pattern that matches cloud-based, optional services, and dynamic adjustment resources.

"11545.html > We have a ready-made user base," said Mario Mueller, chairman of ODCA and BMW's vice president for IT infrastructure. We do not want to abandon these permits. Therefore, we must find ways to get the existing license user base to have a more cloudy function license.

License authorization has always been a hot topic. So is security. The data security framework addresses many different topics, including data encryption, event management, and access control. Mueller says the latter will prove to be a headache for businesses that migrate services to public or mixed clouds. He says there is no good solution to keep him in control of identity management, even when using public cloud services.

In addition, Mueller also likes to see better automation. This automation is more easily integrated with processes and has improved resilience. Applications need to be rewritten and scaled down as needed. The manufacturer is currently studying the problem.

ODCA also released a white paper detailing BMW's cloud plans. ODCA hopes this white paper will help push companies to do it. BMW has started a cloud computing journey by implementing a private cloud. BMW applies the private cloud because there is still a lot of uncertainty, mainly about compliance and security-related uncertainties.

Mueller says we like to learn from implementing a private cloud, but the goal is to migrate at least to a mixed cloud. However, in the future, I like to transition to the public cloud in order to better use resources at a more appropriate price.

The first implementation of the BMW private cloud will be put into production this fall. BMW's private cloud will have the services provided by SAP and an Open-source software database service. The underlying cloud platform is also based on open source software components. However, Mueller does not want to elaborate on which components. ' I'll talk about it later this year, ' he said.
