The Linux Foundation's Opendaylight project aims to promote open source http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/13868.html "> Software Definition Network (SDN) development. Extreme NX (EXTR), Flextronics and Oracle (ORCL) have now joined the project.
Three companies June 5 officially joined the Opendaylight, the number of members reached to 39. The project also has 195 collaborating developers to build an open source SDN platform.
New members bring in data center and cloud computing design and infrastructure expertise. Extreme NX is a professional provider of High-performance Network solutions, while Flextronics provides system design, production and logistics. Oracle has a wide range of businesses, while focusing on cloud computing and data centers in a variety of areas.
Opendaylight leaders are delighted with the increase in membership of the project and the further move towards creating an SDN ecosystem with open standards as the center and avoiding monopolies. Opendaylight executive director Jacques Neela said: "More voices mean more discussion and better code, and we are delighted to see the diversity of new members joining to widen the area of Sdn and NFV."
Opendaylight's first formal software was released in April 2013, the software first appeared in February in the same year as hydrogen.
