Piston Cloud Computing announced a high-profile cloud operating system based on OpenStack, allowing businesses to build private clouds in compliance with security and compliance requirements. The operating system was officially launched a week before the OpenStack conference. The Cloud OS is known as "Pentos" and its developer preview will be launched on October 3. The industry-facing generic version is expected to be launched on November 29.

The OpenStack project is a standards-based open source cloud platform, initially developed by NASA and Rackspace, and released in 2010. The OpenStack project aims to avoid cloud confinement (cloud lock-in). Joshua McKenty, the chief architect of NASA's Nebula Company, Christopher MacGown was a member of the Rackspace Cloud Project group. Both of them set up more than 15 operating system companies piston Cloud Computing in San Francisco, USA, on September 27, 2010. So far, the company has been getting as much as $45 million trillion in first-round financing from risk companies.

Joshua McKenty says Piston Cloud Computing company is different from the previous Nebula Company, the main difference is that they provide the product is a complete software distribution. Another OpenStack operating system company Nebula was created by NASA's former CTO Chris Kemp, which launched the OpenStack hardware device for integrated software in July.

Joshua McKenty says OpenStack's early collaborators focused primarily on the needs of publicly-owned service providers and telecoms operators, but a new generation of companies such as piston Cloud computing are currently focusing on private-sector cloud and corporate-specific compliance, Scalability and security requirements.

Joshua McKenty notes that the private cloud and the public cloud will exist at the same time, as the Internet continues to evolve while the corporate LAN still exists. He said in a recent conference call: "I feel that some kind of blank is forming, I do not want to lag behind." The operating system we offer is easy to install and is a secure cloud operating system built on top of OpenStack to be used in the private cloud of the enterprise. ”

So far, more than 100 companies, including founders NASA and Rackspace, as well as Citrix, rightscale, dell and rpath, have supported OpenStack. VMware and Red Hat are still using their own cloud platforms.

Joshua McKenty says Pentos users will be able to benefit from simple deployments, robust security, and flexible scalability.

Joshua McKenty explains: "For example, Pentos is delivered through a USB key switch and can be integrated with the user's directory, system monitoring, and management tools." Users can configure and edit their private cloud on a portable computer, or you can turn the environment on or off. ”

On the security side, Pentos merged a secure Linux operating system and implemented cloud auditing standards for the first time. With Pentos, users can ensure that their cloud environment meets HIPAA, Symbian, and other compliance requirements.

Joshua McKenty further said: "In addition, users can purchase interoperability products from any OpenStack hardware or software vendor, and can add capacity to one server at a time of need." This will make it easier for the world to enter the private cloud. ”

Joshua McKenty notes that users need a private cloud to meet the need for security and compliance: "There are a large number of users coming into the cloud and they love the flexibility of the cloud's deployment and on-demand capacity, but they want to keep the data in-house while implementing the cloud's flexibility." ”

Joshua McKenty specifically mentions that they are engaged in software business, not cloud vendor business. Pentos is based on the server rather than the core or the number of users, and the system also provides annual subscriptions.
