Oracle CEO Ellison (Larry Ellison) made a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Oracle 2010 Global Technology and Applications Conference, according to foreign media reports. In his speech, he made no mention of the recent spate of controversy over Mr. Hurd's accession to Oracle, and instead focused on another move that shocked the entire tech sector: Oracle will sell servers directly. In his speech, Mr. Ellison described Oracle's dissatisfaction with its existing server partners and the increasingly competitive landscape it faces. He showed Oracle's newest server system exalogic elastic Cloud. The product is made up of 30 servers, and hardware and software are known to surpass competitors in terms of speed and ease of use. This system is one of Oracle's 7.3 billion dollar acquisitions of sun. Oracle is the world's largest database software manufacturer and a heavyweight player in computer software. After the acquisition of Sun, Oracle has become a computer hardware market can not be ignored manufacturers. In this way, Oracle will compete directly with IBM in the server market and HP. Mr. Ellison recently invited former HP CEO Hart Hurd to join the joint vice President of Oracle, placing the blurred relationship between Oracle and Hewlett-Packard "farce" under the spotlight again. Oracle has invited two HP executives Ann Livermore Ann Livermore and Dave Donnadley (Dave Donatelli) to show off HP's products before Mr. Ellison's debut to show that the partnership between Oracle and HP has not broken down. Livermore and Donatelli are both HP's new CEO candidates. The goal on the Oracle stage is to show the world that Oracle's 25-year alliance with HP remains solid. But Mr. Ellison's speech has shown that relations are becoming tense. After HP filed a lawsuit against Mr. Hurd to prevent him from joining Oracle, Mr Ellison said HP's move was "retaliatory" and said HP's move made it "almost impossible" for the two companies to continue cooperating. HP and Oracle have 140,000 common customers, said Livermore, head of Hewlett-Packard's server division. This may mean that if the conflict between the two companies deepens further, the cooperation between them will be significantly affected. (slides)
