October 25, recently, Orange Business Services, senior vice president of Global Services Didier Jaubert in an interview with the Sadie Network, said that cloud computing is the telecommunications operators into the IT industry a great opportunity, Because the cloud is actually a good platform for combining the communications industry with the IT industry.

Goal: 2015 cloud computing to contribute 500 million euros to the company

Orange, which launched its cloud-computing strategy two years ago, has set a goal: To contribute about 500 million euros to the company in 2015. Last year, Orange's income in this area has reached € 50 million and will reach € 100 million this year. Orange, which earned more than 7.5 billion euros a year, is a relatively small figure in 100 million, but it is a growth potential.

Speaking of the reasons for the original goal, Didier Jaubert said that there were three main reasons: first, in Europe, the United States in the telecommunications market, the traditional voice business and data services are declining; second, the growth rate of developing countries is much higher than that in Europe and America. Third, because France Telecom needs to transition from the former government agencies to private enterprises, during the 2010-2015 need more to achieve the transformation of the company, and the entire industry to compete effectively with large companies.

But Orange was hesitant about entering the cloud. "Now we have not hesitated," Didier Jaubert smile: "The value of the cloud is to help enterprises bring more mobility, that is to say, we should help enterprise customers to create an infrastructure, and can evolve with the development of enterprises, which is one of the main reasons for enterprises to choose cloud Strategy." Another reason for companies to choose the cloud is to improve network performance and security. ”

According to Didier Jaubert, Orange has done quite a lot of work in transport. The first is to propose a concept that, for example, the cloud can help the enterprise to optimize its own costs, it will also bring business flexibility, is speed, security and scalability. This allows Orange to make the most of the cloud in two areas of infrastructure and software services. Second, the cloud is not only a technology, its solutions should be diverse, and delivery patterns can be diverse, such as private cloud, public cloud, can be customized according to customer needs.

Cloud computing spirit for the Chinese market

In the field of cloud computing, Orange has three main types of partners, namely, technical, marketing and application classes. Didier Jaubert said Orange Business Services, together with Cisco, EMC and VMware, have formed a business alliance called "Flexible 4 Business", which aims to provide end-to-end cloud computing services to businesses. The Alliance combines four complementary it and communications leaders, with a long-term collaborative relationship and the use of their products and technologies.

At present, Orange Business services in more than 30 data centers around the world, but also with the aviation industry experts SITA to create a global high-performance hosted cloud computing services infrastructure. The cloud infrastructure will be based on five continents, six seamless 3+ and level 4 data centers, located in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Sydney, Australia, as well as in Geneva, Europe, and Atlanta, USA. Each data center will cover its area and will be interconnected via an orange high-speed MPLS network.

Orange has invested a lot of energy in the entire Asia-Pacific region and now has three data centers. For the Chinese market, Didier Jaubert said: "We can not ignore the Chinese market, we feel that the spirit of cloud computing is very suitable for the Chinese market." "In China, Orange Business Services has pioneered a network to network interface with China Telecom and Unicom to provide IP VPN access in 200 cities."

However, Orange is also facing strong competition in the cloud computing market. Mainly include German telecom, BT and other traditional competitors, as well as IBM, Hewlett-Packard to join the cloud services in the camp of the IT giants.
