According to McAfee's latest internet search engine security assessment report, search results from Google, AOL, and Ask.com could lead to a significant drop in the proportion of users leading to malicious websites, while MSN and Yahoo search results have more unsafe links to malicious Web sites.
Data from May this year showed that 5% of search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and Ask.com could lead users to websites that infect users ' computers with malicious software and spam. The number of this search results pointing to malicious Web sites in November was 12% lower than in May. The five search engines produce 4.4% of searches that point to malicious web sites. Although it is a good thing to click on the results of a search engine slightly safer. However, almost one-twelveth of the search links still point to malicious sites, search engine security has yet to be upgraded.
Search results from five web sites show that the Ask.com is the most advanced, and AOL is the safest. MSN was the safest search engine in May, and in November it dropped to fourth place. The expansion of the MSN paid search program is the main reason for the drop in security. Paid search results are three times times more dangerous than unpaid search results, and 8% of search results point to malicious web sites. No paid links are only 3%.
