Evernote CEO Phil Libin
Beijing Morning News on April 18 said that Phil Libin, cloud Evernote's Evernote CEO, made a statement on Tuesday at the "New Economic Summit" in Tokyo, Japan. Evernote will work with other companies soon to release Evernote brand of hardware equipment. Evernote wants to develop its own hardware.
Libin said: "We will not actually create, but we will collaborate on design, and in a few years, such as 3-5 years, we will be able to do it ourselves." He stressed that Evernote hopes to develop "new, with magic "Hardware devices, rather than introducing existing types of products.
Currently, Evernote has worked with a number of hardware vendors to preinstall notebook applications in their products. Such products include scanners, cameras, and even sphygmomanometers. Evernote is also one of the first third-party apps for Google Glass.
Libin said Evernote is about to turn on dual-factor authentication, most likely in May, along with some security improvements users can feel. Last month, Evernote was hacked, resulting in the disclosure of some usernames, email addresses, and encrypted passwords. This incident triggered the concerns of Evernote security.
After the hacker attack, Evernote asked the user to reset the password. Libin said that at present, some users are starting to use Evernote again. He said: "Recurrent users have returned, but for users who have not logged in for months, they have not returned."
Libin said he is not worried about competitors' challenges to Evernote, such as Google's Keep and Microsoft's OneNote. Evernote has stepped up its sales of Evernote Business, an enterprise service, to better respond to rivals such as Google and Microsoft. He said: "We have not taken a defensive posture and our goal is not to stop what others are doing, and I think it is difficult to replicate our product completely, but that's still possible."
Libin also said that Evernote may be profitable at any time, but the company is currently focused on business expansion, especially in the U.S. foreign markets. Evernote currently has no plans to sell. In addition, like many other companies, Evernote faces the problem of having to develop different versions of apps for different types of hardware, and Evernote is trying to solve that.
