Powerful http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/14294.html "> 's Big Data Governance plan eliminates the guesswork of finding and using the right information to make business decisions.
Many organizations are working to achieve information governance to oversee critical data on their data, raw materials, suppliers, and finances. For the same reason, companies are starting to implement big data plans, using open source technologies such as Apache Hadoop to create value through new data from sensors, RFID, social media, call center records, and other sources.
Most of the information management plan and large data plan in the organization exist in the island. However, I expect the organization to take a more holistic approach to these plans over the next three to 12-18 months, and I have created the term "big data governance" to reflect this emerging trend. My definition of large data governance is to develop strategies to coordinate the goals of multiple functional departments to optimize, protect, and leverage large data as an enterprise asset.
I believe that the scope of the information governance programme has just begun to widen to include large data. The following framework outlines the expanded framework of the force of information:
1. Metadata governance
Includes a consistent set of key terminology business definitions, as well as links to related technical artifacts.
2. Master Data Governance
Includes a single customer, raw material, vendor and employee views, and ledger accounts. Each data domain has a specific attribute that needs to be guaranteed to fit its target. For example, a phone number is an important attribute of the customer data field because the enterprise must have valid contact information.
3. Reference Data governance
Includes relatively static data, such as country (region), state or province, currency, industry, and customer segmentation codes.
4. Large Data governance
These data have operational qualities that meet three criteria: the number and speed of data are increasing, and the diversity of data in structured, semi-structured and unstructured formats is increasing. As its literal meaning shows, large data can cover every functional unit within the enterprise. "Every employee, whether security or CEO, must recognize that data is a corporate asset and that data must be treated as a corporate asset," Medco Tiyatien FX's chief data officer Inderpal Bhandari said.

Large data governance programs also need to focus on issues similar to other information governance initiatives. These plans must address the following issues:
Metadata. Large data governance requires the creation of reliable metadata to avoid embarrassment, for example, one enterprise repeatedly buys the same dataset two times, only because the dataset uses different names in two different repositories.
Privacy. Companies need to focus on compliance with privacy issues, such as using social media analytics.
Data quality. Given the sheer volume and speed of large data, organizations need to determine which level of data quality is "good enough".
Information lifecycle management. Large data governance plans need to develop an archiving strategy to ensure that storage costs do not exceed control. In addition, the organization needs to set a retention plan to properly dispose of data in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Managers. Ultimately, businesses need to recruit large data administrators. For example, the managers of exploration and exploitation departments within the oil and gas company are responsible for managing seismic data, including related metadata. These administrators need to avoid the organization being paid to purchase the external data already owned by inconsistent naming conventions. In addition, social media administrators need to work with legal advisers and senior management to develop strategies for how acceptable information is to be used.
"Organizations have recognized that companies must control important data assets, so the importance of data governance is increasing for organizations," said Andy Hayler, CEO of the information difference. "IBM has been active in the field of data governance, this framework extends the scope of the governance plan in a very valuable way, beyond the main data, to the often neglected but very important reference data and enterprise metadata areas, while also clearly identified in the data governance to solve the large data problem needs. ”
If implemented properly, powerful large data governance programs help eliminate guesswork in the search for and use of correct data to make business decisions, regardless of where the information originates, what type of information it belongs to, and how fast it moves. This eases the heavy pressure on management professionals to face new sources of data, and enables business leaders to base themselves on a more advantageous position in exploring and leveraging new data for enterprise development.
