Qatar's financial center invites Chinese institutions to settle in

Desmond Holmes, director of the Qatar Financial Center Authority, said in a recent interview with the China Securities newspaper that Chinese financial institutions were welcome to open branches in the centre. Qatar's financial centre opened in May 2005 as a financial business centre established by the Qatari government in Doha, which aims to attract international financial services and other multinational companies, 　　Encourage them to participate in the development of financial services in Qatar and elsewhere in the Gulf. More than 100 international financial institutions are now located in Qatar's financial centres. Holmes described the Middle East as the fastest growing region in the world economy. ICBC has set up branches in Qatar's financial centre last year and is mainly engaged in business financing, trade guarantees for Chinese companies and deposits for businesses.
