&http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/37954.html ">NBSP; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 provides a graphical Logical Volume Manager (LVM) Configuration Tool-SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM. SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM allows the user to set up a volume group for local physical disks and disk partitions. It makes the logical volumes that are created flexible, extensible, and allows the system to use this logical volume like a normal physical disk. SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM uses graphics to represent the disks and volumes of the system. This helps users more visually view the usage of storage devices and provides an interface for the management tasks of a volume. SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM can help you perform the following tasks:

Create or delete a volume group

Add or remove disks from a volume group

Activate and Deactivate volume groups

Exporting and importing volume groups

Create, delete, or modify logical volumes

Increase logical Volume size

Create a file system in a logical volume or increase the size of the file system

Creating and modifying mirrored logical volumes

To create a striped logical volume

Split a mirrored logical volume and a merged mirror copy

Adding and removing mirrored replicas in mirrored logical volumes

Create and modify physical volume groups

1. Install SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM

If the SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM is installed when the system is installed, then we can configure the LVM directly. Otherwise use the command to install:

#rpm –IVH system-config-lvm-1.0.22-1.0.el5.noarch.rpm

2. Start SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM

Use the system-manage-logical volume Manager to start the interface as shown in Figure 1.

Or use the terminal to run SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM, the interface is shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2 SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM interface

You can see from Figure 2 that the use of the Installer Configuration Logical Volume (PV) is already present in the SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM interface.

The SYSTEM-CONFIG-LVM interface is divided into three sections:

On the left is the LVM control area, showing the physical volume (PV) physical Volume and Logical Volume (LV) Logical Volume Basics.

The middle shows the physical volume (PV) Physical volume and Logical Volume (LV) Logical volume situation through a graphical interface.

On the right is the physical volume (PV): Physical volume and Logical Volume (LV): Logical volume detailed parameters.
