Red Hat New Cloud deployment: Cloudforms and OpenShift

Red Hat introduces the latest IaaS solution cloudforms,red hat Cloudforms supports the creation of more than 60 open source projects, which have application lifecycle management capabilities to build mixed cloud and private cloud.

The Red Hat product marketing manager Bryan Che, speaking of Cloudforms, said: "The benefits of cloud computing cannot be apparent without the ability to leverage the overall IT infrastructure." ”

Cloudforms is an open Api--deltacloud API based on Red Hat, which enables users to manage clouds of different standards. Red Hat built the Deltacloud project for the abstract cloud interface in 2009.

OpenShift

Meanwhile, Red Hat introduces another key PAAs technology--openshift. OpenShift is based on Makara Marvell, a technology company acquired by Red Hat in November 2010.

"OpenShift is the result of Red Hat in the open source platform, the service area," Isaac Roth, a PAAs expert at the Red Hat, said at a conference. ”

OpenShift supports different standard development architectures, including Java, Python, PHP language, and Spring, Seam, Weld, CDI, Rails, Rack, Symfony, Zend Framework, Twisted, Django , Java EE framework.

Red Hat offers three main features: a free fast version, a flexible version that can be embedded in monitoring, and a openshift version.

Although Red Hat has positioned OpenShift's deployment as an open-source solution, Red Hat says it is not fully implemented. Some parts of OpenShift have not yet been open source, Roth said.

"Some parts of OpenShift have not yet been open source, such as UI code," Roth said. We will openshift open source in the future, but the specific time is uncertain. ”

In the past few years, Red Hat has been working to promote the "Cloud Foundations" project. And OpenShift and Cloudforms are independent of cloud foundations projects.

And for VMware launched the open source PAAs project Cloud Foundry, Red Hat did not give evaluation and response.
