Red Hat (RHT) has updated its open source programming language and development tools, the well-known Red Hat software collection, currently available in beta 1.1. This development kit (released separately) complements its flagship product, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Red Hat Software Collection Released Fall 2013, http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/8437.html "> The target groups are those leading open source programming languages that want to deploy the latest stable release from a single source , Databases and toolkits. Red Hat offers these suites as a subscription service promised to provide more software updates than RHEL, and usually only when the company launches a new version of the operating system itself, Will update the package.
Red Hat plans to release major versions of the new Red Hat software collection every 18 months, but incremental updates will be provided more often. Version 1.1 of this platform is the first update since Red Hat launched the service and is one of those minor updates. According to Red Hat officials, the main changes include:
Two new open source HTTP server options: Apache HTTP Server and Ngnix (Tech Preview)
PHP 5.5, a server-side scripting language designed for web development
For the first time, Ruby 2.0 and Rails 4.0 are packaged separately so that developers get an updated version of Ruby without having to install Rails
MongoDB, a high-performance, open source document database and leading NoSQL database, provides high availability and scalability
Thermostat 1.0, a tool that monitors instances of Java virtual machines on multiple hosts
Although Red Hat software collections are not as much a part of Red Hat's business as RHEL, this is a good example for the open source community as how an organization coordinates users in the face of rapid growth and natural dispersion of open source development Stable and timely new software requirements. Open source vendors like Red Hat rely heavily on third-party code, but at the same time they seldom release new versions of software-often even not strictly following regular release schedules-which is why an open-source platform can not be fully up-to-date . But Red Hat took the job and combined the latest stable release of the far-end open-source project into an integrated software suite that saves developers a lot of time - provided that they have subscribed to the Red Hat software collection .
