Hudson&yorke, a new report by 文慧, a professional consultancy, shows that the industry's excess cost of more than £ 12 billion is due to the failure of the major companies to properly seek and manage their network and telecoms projects. The study, conducted by Forrester, an analyst firm, has surveyed 81 multinational companies from 12 countries that spend more than 6 million pounds a year on telecoms services. The results show that the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the company has not been able to allocate enough staff to participate in the company's telecommunications strategy, procurement or management, although the sector's telecommunications services account for about 20% of its total budget. The analysis notes that many companies are losing out on contracts with telecoms service providers, mainly because they may not negotiate the details of the contract or understand the specific needs of their own corporate networks. As a result, one-fifth per cent of the respondents said they usually failed to meet the targets set in their initial investment projects. Mikenewlove, chief operating officer at Hudson&yorke, Maik Newlorf that the study underscores the failure of CIOs to recognise the importance of telecoms infrastructure to the operations of the company. "Nearly one-fifth per cent of each company (in the surveyed companies) is used for telecommunications services, so it is important for those in charge of the information sector to recognize how telecommunications services will support the company's entire communications network," Newlorf said. "Newlorf also believes that the company does not designate full-time staff responsible for its telecommunications infrastructure, in order to solve the problem of sudden problems caused further difficulties." He added: "Without dedicated telecommunications staff, it is not possible for companies to engage in active negotiations on contracts with telecommunications service providers, because no one knows how to save costs and improve efficiency, and thus rashly sign contracts." ”
