Research shows solid-state storage demand rising prices hinder

The IBM survey heard 250 of "It experts who can intervene in decision-making" in the United States. In fact, they can actually represent a small group of people in the IT world, although the statistical sample numbers don't mean much.

IBM's findings show that 43% of these IT experts are planning to use solid-state drives or some form of solid-state solution, and that in 43% of those samples, 75% said speed was a huge motivator for them to use solid-state storage. However, the biggest hurdle in the field of SSDs is the price factor: of all the IT Pros (47%) who do not use solid-state drives, 71% per cent said the cost was the main reason they did not apply the SSDs solution.

The good news is that the survey also found that 47% of respondents will increase storage input, particularly in the areas of virtualization and cloud computing solutions. This may mean that, despite the high cost pressures, users still have the need to invest, and SSD can be applied in deployment. While only 26% per cent of respondents said their storage investment focus would be on SSD storage, there was still potential in that area. For example, survey results show that 29% of companies are looking for data solutions for compliance.
