In the unusually competitive US smartphone market, RIM's share was further robbed by Apple and Google, according to the latest data from the US market research firm comscore, in the June 4 midday News of Beijing time. And with the fear of Rim's collapse, two investment companies downgraded the company's target share price. Google's Android share in the US smartphone market grew to 36.4% in the three months to April, and Apple rose to 26%, according to comscore, but Rim slid from 30.4% in the previous quarter to 25.7%. From the third to the top of the second. Show Wu, a US investment firm Stern Agee analyst, said Rim would be hit harder as Apple icloud cloud computing services. RIM's share price has also slipped after Apple's iphone and Google Android. The company's share price in February was once more than $70 trillion, but it has fallen by more than 40% since. RIM's shares fell 3.7% per cent to $38.93 in Friday's conventional trading in the Nasdaq market, falling below $40 for the first time since March 2009. Fearing increased competition and uncertainty over the timetable for the release of its products, the Swiss bank lowered RIM's target share price from $60 to $45, and said RIM's management structure was not sound enough. Maik Lazaridis (Mike Lazaridis) and Jim Barcilly (Jim Balsillie) jointly serve as Chairman and co-CEO of Rim, and Balsillie now serves as chief marketing officer. BGR, the US technology blogger, quoted the source as saying that rim's new BlackBerry Bold touch-screen handset, released in May this year, was scheduled to go public this summer but has been postponed to September. Stern Agee cut RIM's target share price from $52 to $44, and said Apple icloud would have a knock-on effect on RIM's services, which are more attractive than RIM's push-back network technology. Show Wu also believes that if Apple decides to launch a free basic version of icloud service, it will have an impact on rim's revenue and gross margin. (Ding Macro)
