Alcatel-Lucent says it is building a cloud-computing platform for operators, which, among other things, is primarily designed to ensure that operators are committed to achieving the appropriate level of business in terms of business priorities and quality.
Operators can run their internal software through the platform called CloudBand, providing cloud computing services to businesses. Rung said that if operators were able to deploy in different data centers within their networks, the CloudBand platform could provide optimal settings for an application at a particular time by detecting a range of factors and user requirements.
Rung says they can sell cloud computing to businesses to ensure that high-priority tasks get network bandwidth and response time.
Rung that the CloudBand management system is based on the algorithm developed by Bell Labs, which balances the server load, network congestion and latency to ensure the corresponding service commitment. Another component of CloudBand is the cloud band node, which exists in every cloud facility in the network, including components such as computing, storage, virtualization, and cloud management.
Rung plans to work with HP to optimize the equipment used for CloudBand. By leveraging the same cloud as customer service, operators do not need to use traditional special hardware to provide standard services such as voice and video.
Alcatel plans to provide cloudband services to operators in the first half of next year.
