Perhaps the most important thing about the marketing cloud is the Radian6 Social Hub, which directs information from social networking sites to the appropriate sales or support staff within the company. For example, clients complaining about airline services on Twitter can be forwarded to the airline's marketing staff, who offer discounted airfares for comfort.


Salesforce.com also launched a Siteforce Web site built into a social marketing cloud. Siteforce uses a drag-and-drop writing system. With this service, the marketing department is able to create its own network-themed web sites without the help of IT departments.


Overall, the cloud service not only enhances Salesforce.com's position in marketing software, but also perpetuates its "social enterprise" product strategy. Currently, Salesforce.com is working with vendors such as Marketo and Silverpop to launch products that provide automated email marketing and lead generation services.
