Although the global smart watch market has just begun, but to some extent, Samsung has become a winner.
Research firm Strategic Analysis latest data show that the first quarter of this year, global smart watch shipments increased 250%. Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watches dominate the victory over major competitors Motorola and Pebble.
Strategic analysis analyst Neil Mawston said in a statement: "The market is dominated by Samsung and its Galaxy Gear products and outperforms all major competitors such as Motorola and Pebble"
Moston said the first quarter of global smart watches shipments of 700,000, while Samsung smart watches shipments accounted for 500,000, the market share of up to 71%. What's more, the 500,000 units will not include the latest Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit because the latter will not be available until April this year.
It should be noted that these numbers are only shipments, rather than the actual number of sales to consumers, the actual number of consumers may be far below the figure.
BI Intelligence previously estimated that 2018 global smart watch sales were estimated at 91.6 million units, the average sales price of about 100 US dollars, the market size of about 9.2 billion US dollars.
But if Apple iWatch goes public later this year, smartwatts will become even more prevalent in the coming years. BI Intelligence predicts that in the future one of the 20 smartphones will be paired with a smartwatch.
Pebble was initially just a Kickstarter crowdfunding project with a funding goal of $ 100,000, but successfully financed more than $ 10 million in 37 days. In the first half of 2013, 93,000 Pebble smart watches were shipped, with a forecast of more than 275,000.
While current smartwatch users may also be limited to specific user groups, there is no doubt that market demand will be greater if they are stylishly designed and have some "killer" essential apps. (Tan burn)
