Samsung specifically launches 500GB platters for servers and desktops

Samsung Electronics, the world's leading digital consumer electronics and information technology maker, today unveiled a new high-storage high-density hard drive SpinpointF3 for high-end computer office environments. The F3 series of hard drives can operate in 7200RPM, using two 500GB disc platters, providing up to 1TB of data storage capacity.　　The new hard drive is designed to meet the increasing demand for high-performance data storage for high-end desktop PCs. SPINPOINTF3 series hard drive uses advanced 500GB disc technology to achieve gigabit density.　　Due to reduced mechanical parts in the same 3.5-inch size three platter mounted 1TB hard drive, the 1tbspinpointf3 of the two platters can provide up to 30% operating efficiency.
