March 6 News, recently, with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge of the release, the industry's comments to Samsung reached a peak, and even a sense of the language not surprisingly dead. For example, some people in the industry recently said that Samsung will not lose to Apple, and will die in China's pursuers (Chinese manufacturers), largely on the basis of Gartner's newly released 2014 Global Smartphone Quarterly report, which showed that the decline in Samsung's market share was not related to Apple in the fourth quarter last year. Mainly Chinese handset manufacturers credit, and to infer that the future Samsung will die in the hands of Chinese handset manufacturers. Is that really the case?
Since this person is using Gartner's report as the main analytical basis, we may as well start by talking about the conclusions we have drawn from our analysis. To this end, we calculated the fourth quarter and the full year of Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, Huawei and millet shipments and market share year-on-year growth rate of data.
The first is the fourth quarter of the growth rate of shipments: Apple for 49%; Samsung-12%; Lenovo 48%; Huawei 31%; Millet 232%; market share growth: Apple 15%; Samsung-33%; Lenovo 14%; Huawei 0%; Millet 155%. Annual shipments Growth: Apple 27%, Samsung 3%, Lenovo 42%, Huawei 46%, market share growth: Apple 0%; Samsung-20%; Lenovo 10%; Huawei 15%.
One thing we've found here is that Apple's shipments and market share growth in the fourth quarter of last year was much higher than it did throughout the year, while Samsung, on the contrary, had a much higher decline in shipments and market share in the fourth quarter than it did all year. By contrast, the gap between the two growth indicators for Chinese handset makers is not obvious. For example, Lenovo's fourth-quarter and full-year shipments and growth rates were 48% (after Motorola Mobile) and 42%, Huawei was 31% and 46%, and millet was not in the top five of the year's rankings, so we couldn't compare. As for the fourth quarter of last year and the annual growth rate of shipments, Lenovo is 14% (included after Motorola Mobile) and 10%, Huawei is 0% and 15%.
Another interesting phenomenon is the emergence of Apple and Samsung in the fourth quarter of last year's global smartphone market, the Chinese handset makers did not appear big, or even Huawei in the market share growth rate of 0? And if the factors that are taken into account for the acquisition of Motorola phones, Believe that Lenovo no matter in the volume of shipments or market share growth rate will not have a big phenomenon. Why?
to give a clearer explanation of the reasons, we have introduced IDC to supplement the Chinese mobile phone market for the fourth quarter and the full year of shipments. After all, the Chinese market is the main battlefield of the domestic handset manufacturers, if the impact of Samsung, the Chinese market is more convincing. But to our surprise, the trend presented in the IDC report is quite similar to the Gartner Global handset market report, or even more so. In the fourth quarter of last year, for example, Apple shipments rose 99.7% per cent year-on-year and first shot into China's smartphone market, but from 2014 to the year, Apple did not enter the top five of the former Chinese market.
Compared with Apple, Samsung's shipments fell 49.9% in the fourth quarter of last year, fifth in 2014 and 22.4% in the year to the second. As for Chinese handset makers, Huawei's shipments rose 28.3% in the fourth quarter, 27.4% in the year, with Lenovo falling 14.3% per cent in the quarter, 13.7% for the year, 150% for the year and 186.5% for the whole, and 28.3% for the year. What we see here is, also in the fourth quarter of the ups and downs of Apple and Samsung, Chinese handset makers have not only failed to show significant growth or even declines in the year, such as Lenovo shipments, which have fallen by 14.3%, while the so-called fast-growing millet growth rate in the fourth quarter was also lower than the year before, Huawei is only growing at less than 1%. The industry should be reminded that the most obvious and intuitive manifestation of the comparison between last year and fourth quarter was that Apple had the best number of shipments and rankings in the top five of the smartphone market, and that it was the worst date for Samsung shipments and rankings, which appeared in the fourth quarter, The industry knows that Apple released its big screen iPhone6 and IPhone6 Plus in the fourth quarter of last year. On the contrary, when Apple did not enter the top five list for the year, Samsung ranked second in China, with shipments falling only about half the fourth quarter when Apple entered the top five list.
&NBSP By analyzing the growth rates of shipments and market share in the global and Chinese smartphone markets, it is not hard to find that the market performance of Apple's iphone is key to the performance of the Samsung market, both in the global and in China's smartphone market. In addition, we have not yet to take into account the revenue and profit factors, but we have written a detailed analysis of this article, the conclusion is that Apple and Samsung this relationship between the end, the Chinese handset manufacturers play a very small role.
Of course, we are not denying the results of Chinese handset makers and some of the impact on Samsung, but we have some analysis blinders, or even exaggerated the impact, it is very easy to mislead the development of China's smart-phone industry.
