Sanforce today released a new SSD (solid-state drive) controller optimized for cloud computing environments.
The new SF-2481 processor is scheduled to be installed on the MLC (multistage unit) NAND Flash SSD in the cloud environment. This product is attractive to the cloud environment because its ECC (Error correction code) is almost twice times the size of its predecessor, SF-2200.
The SandForce SSD controller has already reached 55B per 512-byte sector, but the new SF-2481 can exceed the built-in flash ECC. ECC with error detection can find and reorganize data based on where the error occurred.
The company says the new controller also has predictive failure analysis controls to help confirm reliability.
Like the SF-2200 controller, SF-2481 also supports the SSD SATA interface with 6GB of data per second. It is continuously stable read and write speed of 500MB per second and irregular reading and writing speed of 60,000 times per second input output, which is the same as its predecessors.
This controller also comes with automatic dual AES encryption, which equates to secure Crypto-erase control 300B protection, and secure crypto-erase develops a random key that erases data every time, guaranteeing that old data cannot be decrypted and not read.
"SSD processor SF-2481 is designed specifically for cloud computing data centers that combine performance, persistence, and intelligence," SandForce's marketing director Jeremy Werner said in a statement.
The SF-2481 SSD Processor is sampling into OEMs now and'll ship in mass production in whose 2012. SSD Processor SF-2481 is now sampled by the original equipment manufacturer and will be in mass production in January 2012.
